Our Facilities

In recent years extensive time, work and effort has been put into the facilities and equipment on offer for members at DMPS Saints home ground of Kingholm Park. With a long-term commitment to our playing area and facilities, we hope that Kingholm Park will be considered one the premier cricketing venues in Scotland and enjoyed by our senior and junior members and visitors during each cricket season.

Cricket Square:

In 2010, St Michael’s Cricket Club undertook one of the biggest projects in club history. With support from Dumfries and Galloway Council, the club were able to hire the expert services of well known and respected ground and square developers Simpson & Partners of Ayr (tel: Alan Simpson 07909 600 305) to completely relay the square at Kingholm Park.

screen2Sight Screens:

New sight screens were purchased in 2010 with the much appreciated support of Dumfries and Galloway Council which are the envy of many visiting sides. The Premier 8-Metre Folding Sight Screens supplied by Johnjac Cricket Supplies come with a 10 year frame guarantee and will be used at every weekend fixture. With sight screens normally associated with county grounds there can be no excuse for not seeing the ball clearly while playing at Kingholm Park.

Covers:

covers2New Covers were purchased in 2011 with the support of SportScotland and the Cricket Scotland Development Trust. The CC04 Model supplied by Accranut have an apex anti-vandalism design, with fully galvanised framework and are covered in high quality roofing material. They are extremely light while at the same time robust enough to withstand any missuse and should allow more games to be played and completed despite the sometimes inclement Scottish weather.

roller2Roller:

A new roller to support the investment of our square at Kingholm Park was purchased from Swillington Rollers, Leeds ( tel: Eric Smith 07762 631 297 ) in 2011. This purchase was made possible with the kind support of The MCC Foundation and Dr. B Pirechod. With our new Autoroller it is anticipated that many quality pitches will be enjoyed by all players at Kingholm Park for many years to come.

New Net Facilities

netsThe latest innovation for the 2014 season has been the provision of the Club’s first ever double bay net facility, complete with reinforced steel poles and marked articial pitch strips.

The new nets should allow for extended practice sessions for batsmen and reduce queueing times for bowlers once open air practices start again in April.

We are also in the process of constructing a new groundsman’s shed to increase the availalable storage space.

Mower

We are also the proud owners of a state-of-the-art grass mower, bought about eighteen months ago. Photo awaited.
