Young Saints Win Memorial Trophy
On Sunday, the annual Stevie Crawford Memorial Trophy took place between a youthful St Michael’s side with only one adult participating and Lockerbie C.C.
Saints batted first scoring 102 all out in their thirty over allocation. The best partnership of their innings was 38 between openers Chris Brockwell and Saints Sunday skipper Reece McNay, who in fact were the only home batsmen to achieve double figures, Brockwell scoring 25 and McNay 20.
Lockerbie bowled tightly, Ian Naysmith with his new found bowling skills and Liam Rogerson taking three apiece.
In reply Lockerbie lost wickets at regular intervals to some excellent Saints’ bowling, fielding and catching. Dan Turner, Fergus Bainbridge and McNay were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets each, while Cammie Barnett impressed with two sharp catches.
Ross Crawford of Lockerbie played the best innings of the day, producing some expansive shots on either side of the wicket in his 27. Duncan Gracie with 11 was the other double figure scorer for the away side .
The J. Walker & Son Man of the Match award went to Reece McNay for a fine all round performance.
